Abstract:
Over the past years a combination has been witnessed, closer and
closer, between technology and the different areas and services within the
knowledge society. Whereas Portugal and the European Union are undergoing
a period of progressive ageing, it is intended to focus attention on a group of
citizens where this new possibility might bring a real added value: elderly
citizens. Among the elderly, the possibility that they may come to enjoy the
services of e-Health implies that this group of citizens, usually associated with
the group of info-excluded, has to acquire a set of skills and digital literacy that
will allow them to use and handle these digital technology devices.
