Abstract:
The increase in sedentary lifestyles, coupled with the decrease of Physical Education classes (PE), has a negative impact on students’ health and physical condition. The sample consisted of 123 12th grade students , divided into a control (n = 31) and an experimental group (n = 92). The following tests were performed: 60" push-ups, 30" curl-ups 2kg BM launch, six-fold, push and 30m sprint. The TP consisted of calf lifts, lunges, semi-squats, bench press, butterfly, vertical rowing, burpees, kettlebell, abdominal and lumbar exercises (2x15 rep. 60% 1RM for 30" and 60" rest). The training program lasted for nine weeks with 2 Training Units. When comparing their average gains, differences can be found in push-ups, BW and sixfold. The t-test results showed higher values for the male students, in all tests, and gains in curl ups. This study shows that PE classes can contribute to the improvement of muscle strength. Particularly, PE classes, with a focus on organization and implementation of a strength training program, induce greater improvements and stress the importance of strength training in schools.
