Abstract:
This article aims to address home-based pediatric palliative care from a family-centered salutogenic perspective. The research conducted in database platforms and scientific journals has revealed a limited number of studies focusing on the salutogenic paradigm in palliative care. Pediatric palliative care has the primary objective of provided family-centered home care, meeting the needs of families with a positive impact on the children’s quality of life. The European Association for Palliative Care recognizes the importance of focusing attention on the skills and resources of the child and family rather than just their difficulties, ie, a salutogenic orientation in palliative care. This new direction in health care has been emerging gradually as a result of the development of various constructs, namely an internal sense of coherence and the resilience. The conclusion is that this paradigm shift is essential for the improvement of quality of life for both children and their families throughout the course of the disease

Keywords: home-based pediatric palliative care; family; salutogenesis; resilience and internal sense of coherence
