The Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Portugal play a major role in the Portuguese business context. However, several factors allied to a delicate economic situation make these vulnerable organizations.
This research aimed to apply a diagnostic tool and evaluation of potential shortcomings in the process of an SME, Enterprise GORT, which simultaneously integrates the areas of Quality, Environment, and Safety.
Based on the FMEA methodology (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) - the failure and its Effects Modes Analysis failure modes were identified at Quality level (defects), environment (environmental impacts) and the level of Safety, Hygiene and Health work (occupational hazards), in each phase of a one component injection process rubber and evaluated the respective severity indexes, occurrence, and detection. The simplicity of application of this methodology allowed its optimization translated the simultaneous evaluation of quality risk, environment, and safety, reducing the time, optimizing resources and translating into effective actions to improve the process, making it more stable and robust in all its dimensions and thus contributing to achieving beneficial results for the organization.
