Title: CONCEPTIONS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND TRAINERS OF TRAINERS ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GOOD PE TEACHER

Abstract:
This descriptive study was designed to know the conception of university students, Physical Education (PE) teachers in secondary education and trainers of trainers about what it means to be a good PE teacher. The sample used 123 students of the University of A Coruña enrolled in 4th Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in the school years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, 93 PE teachers who work in the field of influence of the university, and 13 trainers of trainers of that institution. The work methodology used two questionnaires. The attributes that best define a good teacher for students were their professional attitude (26,5%) and pedagogical intervention (19,8%); for PE teachers the professional attitude (26,8%) and personal traits (13%); and for trainers of trainers the professional attitude (22,2%), scientific capacity (13,3%) and general effects of the product (13,3%). The professional attitude was the most valued characteristic by the three groups, not finding consensus in remaining analyzed categories.
