Abstract:
Tourism is an important sector in the Iberian economy. Countries like Portugal and Spain enjoy a geographically-privileged location, with a vast offer of the cultural, historical and environmental heritage that, in addition to the ease of access as well as social and political stability, attracts thousands of tourists annually from certain international tourist markets. This paper will then briefly characterize tourism in Portugal and Spain, defining the profiles of their product regions. An analysis of rates of tourist affluence by country of origin of the tourists detected the existence of some common and specific factors of the regions studied.
