Abstract:
To promote equal opportunity, access to education was democratized, and as a result, failure and drop-out rates have reached alarming levels. In this context, this paper will try to define the concept of educational failure to then discover the primary sources of this phenomenon as cited by teachers and the intervention strategies adopted. The results obtained show that the theories are essentially individualistic, centred as they are on the social and cultural handicap of the student. As for the strategies that promote effective teaching, these are not predominantly centred on the student, but rather on social and institutional as well as biogenetic practice. While teachers profess that it is worthwhile to fight educational failure using systemic strategies to recover students, these same strategies are little used.
