Abstract:
The following article presents us some data of the 1st step of an action research about contemporary musical aesthetics and children’s musical education - perception and musical communication. The aim of the action research is to find methodological approaches that make the contemporary classical music in the child’s development accessible. Starting from the aesthetics theories of musical learning, the purpose of the 1st stage of the research was to study the musical perception of children, teachers and socio-cultural monitors in relation to contemporary music, through the observation of listening/appraising activities with six groups of children (110 children between 3 and 11 years old) and through a questionnaire completed by future teachers and monitors. The results are: children accept and understand contemporary classical music; and it is necessary to include this kind of music in the curricular programs of future teachers and monitors. This last conclusion is due to the questionnaire’s data, since the informants think that contemporary classical music is important, although they revealed serious problems about its knowledge.

Keywords: musical aesthetics, perception and communication, contemporary classical music, child’s education, teacher and socio-cultural monitor
