Abstract:
There are several currents of thought concerned about environmental problems. However, there’s a certain incapacity of the Economy to work with this theme. Frequently, it is misadjusted from the ecological reality. The action field delimitation and some approach methods are still incipient, denoting a continuous improvement and learning process, especially, when they seek the economical valuation of goods and environmental services. Thus, the main objective of this article is to study and to understand this theme. For such, a critical incursion to the economical thought theories is conducted based in a bibliographical research and, subsequent, critical analysis. The focus will rely on Environmental Economy once it is particularly adapted to several democratic and neo-liberalists models. It is concluded that the antagonisms among the schools of thought on the environmental theme are reduced since they are, in great measure, result from the specificity, approach and multifaceted and multidisciplinary nature of the Environment. However, neoclassical theory possesses a strong anthropocentric ideology where prevalence of government instruments block the inclusion of other perspectives, while other schools extol other approach methods like appropriation and use of natural resources, negotiation principles, advantage of environmental technologies, among others.
