Abstract:
This investigation is justified by the growing importance of the adhesion to the treatment of Arterial Hypertension (AHT). The main objective of this investigation involves the analysis of the adhesion to the antihypertensive treatment of the Bragança’s Health Center nº. 1 patients; and, the evaluation of their knowledge about AHT. The sample includes 366 individuals (235 female and 131 male), with ages between 18 and 95 years old. An intersectional questionnaire face to face was made, inserted in an observational and transversal study. Data statistical treatment was made using SPSS 17.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). Of the inquired patients, 33,9% had AHT with, in average, 62,9 years old. In five of the eight proposed subjects about AHT, it was verified that patients had a satisfactory knowledge about the disease. In medicated patients, only 50,4%, were treatment adherent. The main justification to non adhesion was the lack of memory. The prevalence of AHT on this study can be explained by the advanced age of most patients. In general, patients had a satisfactory knowledge about AHT that can be a result of health team effort. Although preoccupying, results of treatment adhesion were similar to other studies.
