Egitania Sciencia Journal - Volume 14
Over the past few years, the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda has promoted a significant number of actions and activities, with varying geographical scope, which have shown dynamism, concern for quality, and the increase in the formative offer.
These initiatives have confirmed that, despite the difficulties arising from the current economic and social context, it is possible, it is desirable, it is essential to carry out working with accuracy, seriousness and quality in the inland regions of the country.
And let us not forget that the inland regions of Portugal present asymmetries, at various levels, with the coastline; particularly in terms of population distribution, location of the main urban centres, number of employers and economic activity in a broad sense. These indicators, taken together, constitute a dual and deeply asymmetric reality in the country, with structural characteristics.
Scientific studies show that higher education institutions represent a very substantial value for the country as a whole and for each region in particular, both from the point of view of providing qualification, but also, and above all, from the point of view of the positive effects they generate for the territories in which they operate and that gravitate around its area of action in an articulated set of dimensions, including the economic, social, demographic and cultural ones, in favour of the desired social and territorial cohesion.
Hence our permanent commitment to increasingly assert the role of the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, in this case by editing scientific publications, such as this Journal.
Here is another proposal, in the context of this IPG publication, and we are certain that its content is worth a close reading.
